Waiting

Do you wait well? Most of us are challenged in this area.

I can wait for my coffee to brew in the morning. But usually I have to settle myself down when it comes to waiting.

Isaiah 25:9 says “ and it shall be said in that day, yes this is our God: we have waited for him, and he will save us, this is the Lord we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation-“

Waiting is good when the thing or the person you’ve waited for makes all the difference. This year we have waited on the Lord. Waited for direction and perspective. Fine tuning our ear to hear his voice and his leading. Reducing the distractions and voices of others is a deliberate choice so that we can hear the one voice saying- “go this way.”

It matters because we are wholly devoted to God. Waiting is waiting…. so I’ve learned to do a few things while waiting…

Read Gods promises.

Sing

Worship

Do all the things- chores, dishes, laundry, work, clean the house, sew, dust, change the diapers, 😊 vacuum….

Haha life goes on and we can’t sit and wait, we’ll I guess we can but we need to actively wait on God. Knowing he will speak, he will lead, he will give direction but it is up to us to keep doing what we are supposed to do. God will do what only he can do…. at the right time.

We have animals and live on a few acres in a rural town. We taught our kids chores and how to take care of our animals. Every day they have to be fed. Every day they need to be watered. We have to take care of them every day. If you don’t they will get out of their pen and go searching for food or water. That can lead to disaster, and chasing animals, frustration and more!

Even though we wait on God we have to do what only we can do while waiting on God to do what only he can do. And we do what we need to do while we are waiting on God. Galatians 6:5 says let every man carry his chores or work load or responsibilities. That’s what we do.

But then something happens- you’ll get a thought, an idea, get a phone call, and you will sense that God is nudging you to get your attention. This may happen soon or it may take awhile. God does speak. Through his word, through a message you hear.

His word brings wisdom and understood our days.

Proverbs 3:5,6

5Trust in the LORD with all your heart,

and lean not on your own understanding;

6in all your ways acknowledge Him,

and He will make your paths straight.

Jeremiah 33:3. 3 Call to Me, and I will answer and show you great and unsearchable things you do not know.

It’s good to know God will speak, God will guide and direct us. Even through rough seasons He is near. While we wait. He is Emmanuel – God with us.

Blessings,

Debbie Booth
