Over the weekend we celebrated and enjoyed our family together. We flew across several states to see our kids. Seeing our kids after months of quarantining was just what we needed. A couple times we would share great stories, funny family stories, and then new things that had happened.

Everyone was tired, and someone said something that was cranky….and I said “you just said what?” Haha….it was a moment where time stood still and all our family looked over waiting for an answer.
It came in the form of “I wasn’t thinking clearly when I said that.” We all chuckled and it was over.

I have done this too many times. How about you? Something unfortunate, a slam, a dig towards someone. All because of not thinking clearly.
So here is the deal. When I was 4 or 5, I got in big trouble for calling my brother an “idiot.” Lord have mercy did I get in trouble. Big time. My mother made me memorize a scripture and may have washed my mouth out with soap. Psalm 141:3 “Set a watch, OÂ Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.”
Ouch. Little did I know that scripture would be needed by me many times. But guess what I have that scripture memorized by heart now, and made my kids memorize it.
Yes well, it seems God knew a long time ago I would need help with saying too much.
